'Celebrity Apprentice': Bret Michaels reminds us why he's a reality TV superstar

Posted on

It was a bittersweet episode of Celebrity Apprentice Sunday evening knowing that Bret Michaels is fighting for his life in critical condition after a brain hemorrhage struck down the rocker on Thursday. But the Poison frontman was in full effect in the latest episode, showing us all the reasons he’s one of the most charismatic reality TV stars around. My full recap will be up tomorrow morning, but if you have already watched the episode and can’t wait to weigh in, then read on after the jump for how Bret stole the show, and how Donald Trump shocked everyone in the Boardroom. [SPOILER ALERT: Read on only if you have already watched Sunday’s episode of Celebrity Apprentice.]

The episode began with Trump shaking up the teams and making Bret, Sharon, and Maria the new RockSolid, while Holly, Summer, Cyndi and Curtis made up the new Tenacity. The task was for each of the teams to create and run a 24 Hour Fitness exercise class. Tenacity raised over $200,000 from a group of huge donors and easily won the challenge, but the star of the show was Bret, who — true to the title of one of his biggest hits — wants nothin’ but a good time. Sure, he was getting his flirt on again, this time with a triple threat of Mickey the fitness instructor, Lindsay the graphic designer, and teammate Maria. But Mr. Michaels took it to a whole other level of hilarity by also coming up with a fitness routine comprised of rock show themed moves such as “the air guitar,” “the rock & roll lighter,” “the backstage pass,” and, of course, the infamous “tour bus thrust.” There was also a move titled “pump up the weiner” that seems to have unfortunately been abandoned somewhere along the way.

It was a timely reminder of what a fun and engaging TV personality Bret Michaels is. He takes his job and work on Celebrity Apprentice seriously (as odd as that may sound), but always manages to have fun along the way, even if it means horrifying a 24 Hour Fitness executive by faux-humping a potential client in the middle of a workout routine. Unfortunately, RockSolid only brought in half as much money as those fuddy-duddies on Tenacity, putting them on the losing end. However, Trump was so impressed with the money they did bring in, as well as their rock star themed workout, that he declined to fire anyone. Normally, that would feel like a cop out of Amazing Race non-elimination leg proportions, but considering everything happening with Bret’s medical situation now, it ended up working out for the best. And here’s hoping for the best for Bret as he currently fights an even tougher task in real life.

My full recap will be up in the morning, but in the meantime feel free to post your thoughts on the episode. Which was your favorite of Bret’s workout moves? Which did you enjoy more: the buns or the guns? And did you feel cheated when Trump didn’t fire anyone? Hit the message boards and let us know.
