Ratings: 'American Idol,' CBS procedurals capture week

Posted on

Another weekly win, in terms of broadcast ratings, goes to American Idol, which took the top two spots for the week ending March 21. The Tuesday edition of Fox’s karaoke juggernaut pulled in 22.9 million viewers for the No. 1 spot, while the Wednesday evening results show drew 20.5 million viewers, which was good enough for No. 2. Following Idol were CBS’ powerhouse scripted duo of NCIS (No. 3, 18.0 million viewers) and its spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles (No. 4, 15.1 million viewers). CBS rounded out the top five, too, with its new reality hit, Undercover Boss, which attracted 14.5 million viewers on Sunday evening.

The rest of the top 20 shows for last week were rather run-of-the-mill except for a couple of one-off entries — on Saturday, Thursday, and Friday evenings — for NCAA basketball tournament play. The full top 20 — complete with viewership totals — is after the jump.
