'Supernatural' tonight: Does one of TV's most underrated shows stand a chance?

Posted on

What I mean is, given the competition this Thursday night — a Survivor two-hour premiere, new episodes of The Office, 30 Rock, and Grey’s Frakkin’ Anatomy — why am I wondering whether Supernatural, which is having a terrific season, is even going to get higher ratings than Fox’s new, super-lousy Past Life?

Tonight’s episode, entitled “My Bloody Valentine,” looks like{C} another fine mixture of tension and release — that is, the series’ unique combo of suspense and humor:

Supernatural goes on a five-week hiatus after tonight, so I recommend that you watch, not only for the appearance of Cupid (showcased in the clip above) but also Famine, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse — the Apocalypse that has been giving the Winchester brothers such a devil of a time this season.

What do you think is holding back Supernatural from getting the ratings and acclaim it deserves? (I’ll venture one suggestion:  the CW website should post more complete episodes, and leave them up longer.)

What do you think have been the stand-out moments of this season thus far?

And finally: Will you be watching?
