Oscar nominations: Who got snubbed?

Posted on

Avatar and The Hurt Locker led the Oscar nominations this morning, with nine nods each. There’s a lot to be happy about, like Up‘s five nominations including both Best Animated Feature and Best Picture. But while we await EW Oscar expert Dave Karger’s official analysis, let’s talk snubs. Which omission from the list bothers you most?

In a 10-movie Best Picture field that had room for box office hits as well as indie darlings, I was surprised Golden Globe winner The Hangover, Star Trek, or (500) Days of Summer didn’t sneak in. The Hangover was completely shut out (sorry, Best Original Song hopeful Ed Helms), as was Summer. Star Trek, meanwhile, at least scored nominations for Makeup and the action-film staples Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Visual Effects.

Your turn. What snub has you scratching your head? Invictus not being the sports film in the Best Picture category, anyone?
