Why 'Being Erica' feels so familiar

SOAPnet’s original dramedy takes cues from ”Sex and the City,” ”Flashforward,” and ”Degrassi: The Next Generation”

We’ve fallen for SOAPnet’s original dramedy Being Erica (Wednesdays, 10 p.m.), and with good reason: It’s a mash-up of some of our favorite shows, past and present.

Sex and the City
A struggling singleton with a glossy job in self-help publishing, Erica could definitely hold her own with Carrie & Co.

Instead of glimpsing the future, Erica flashes back to fix past regrets, thanks to a magical therapist.

Degrassi: The Next Generation Erica was created by a Degrassi writer, and stars Degrassi’s Paula Brancati as Erica’s friend Jenny.
