When it comes to the costume design category at the Oscars, voters usually go for period pieces over contemporary or fantasy films. But the Costume Designers Guild includes films in all three genres, which makes for some interesting nominees. Here are this year’s nominees; something tells me there’s about to be a lot of discussion in the comments section over whether Avatar really had costumes.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
(500) Days of Summer
Up in the Air
Coco Before Chanel
Julie & Julia
The Young Victoria
The Young Victoria, Nine, and Sherlock Holmes seem to be the films with the best shot at repeating with Oscar nominations, don’t you think?
