Here’s the trailer for Multiple Sarcasms, out in select cities this March. Timothy Hutton stars as a 1979 architect — or, as trailer voiceover guy puts it: “Gabriel’s life is unraveling, so he’s writing a play.” The title Multiple Sarcasms strikes me as even more precious than Synecdoche, NY — it’s cute that they’re playing off “multiple orgasms” because that’s really just a lovely thought, but beyond the wordplay what does it even mean? The trailer seems pretty earnest to me. I live a humorless life and resent all forms of sarcasm. Irony is for losers.
Oh, look, all is forgiven because the movie poster for Multiple Sarcasms features a toilet, but my favorite actress from my favorite movie, Aileen Quinn from Annie, is the “school secretary” in this movie.
