Did I only love the 'SNL' digital short about Jammies because I was not sober?

Posted on

I’ve watched it a few more times since that blizzardous (not a word) Saturday night, and the answer is a resounding No. Maybe I’m not as obsessed with this ridiculous digital short featuring James Franco in a onesie as I was when I first viewed it in an intoxicated Saturday Night state…but I’m definitely still feelin’ it. You know why? Because I LOVE JAMMIES. No matter what you think about the Yo Gabba Gabba spoof’s morbid twist that (SPOILER ALERT) ends in mass murder, you cannot deny the power of the clip’s underlying theme, which was to endorse how freakin’ cozy pajamas are. I’m wearing some right now and don’t plan on changing it up until at least Dec. 26. Do you guys agree that this was kind of genius, or is it the dumbest s— you’ve ever seen?

This also got me thinking…which TV shows targeted at kids are most improved by chemical enhancement? I’d name Yo Gabba Gabba (clearly the model for The Tizzle Wizzle Show), even though the brief interludes when slack-jawed toddlers roll by in tiny vehicles can be TERRIFYING. Pee-Wee’s Playhouse certainly comes to life under the influence; I love it in theory, but have trouble handling the energy unless I lower mine a little to prepare. Not sure Pee Wee really counts as a “kids’ show,” though. What about you, P-Dubbies?
