Swiss officials to decide on Polanski extradition early next year

Posted on

Authorities in Switzerland will make a decision on whether or not to extradite Roman Polanski to the United States in early 2010 for having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977, the AP reports. A spokesman for the Justice Ministry said that officials are still considering the U.S. extradition request as well as an argument from the 76-year-old movie director’s attorneys that he not be turned over. Polanski, who was arrested Sept. 26 in Zurich, is currently under house arrest at his Swiss chalet.
