Days after a botched back operation in a Paris clinic, French rocker/actor Johnny Hallyday was put in an artificial coma in Los Angeles to deal with an infection for the earlier operation, reports the Associated Press. The 66-year old singer fell ill on Monday and was taken to Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles where doctors put him in a drug-induced coma as he recovered from surgery. “Things are as good as they can be for now and Johnny’s condition is satisfactory,” said the singer’s producer Jean-Claude Camus. “In the United States they told us his operation (for a slipped disc) in Paris was a complete butchery.” Hallyday is the best-known rocker in France. Dubbed “the French Elvis,” he has sold more than 100 million albums.
