Roman Polanski moved to undisclosed location prior to house arrest

Posted on

Hoping to protect him from public attention, Swiss authorities have moved director Roman Polanski from a Zurich area jail to an undisclosed location prior to his transfer to house arrest, reports the Associated Press. Justice Ministry spokesman Folco Galli said Polanski was removed from the jail for “security reasons and personal protection.” His house arrest in a Gstaad chalet is expected to begin Friday. Polanski will be monitored by an electronic monitoring bracelet after posting $4.5 million in bail while Switzerland decides whether to extradite him to the U.S. to stand trial on 1977 charges of having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
