Walt Disney Studios president Mark Zoradi resigns

Posted on

In another step in the continued shake-up at Walt Disney Studios, the company’s president Mark Zoradi has resigned, effective immediately. The resignation comes less than two months after Zoradi’s former boss Dick Cook abruptly left the company, and just a few weeks after Miramax’s president Daniel Battsek stepped down. Zoradi worked at Disney for 29 years, most recently overseeing worldwide marketing and distribution as the president of the motion pictures group. It’s not clear whether Cook’s replacement Rich Ross will replace Zoradi or how he will further streamline the organization. Disney had a disappointing performance at the box office this past weekend with Robert Zemeckis’ A Christmas Carol underperforming expectations but insiders insist Zoradi’s abrupt departure had nothing to do with the film’s box-office take.
