Jason Musante Klein’s 10-minute short film The Perfect Time was just named the winner of the 2009 Stella Artois Short Film Award Project. The Belgian lager company and Kevin Spacey’s Trigger Street Productions co-sponsored the competition (talk about paying it forward!), which featured a panel of glitzy A-list judges such as Laurence “Morpheus” Fishburne, Borat‘s Sacha Baron Cohen, Dame Judi Dench, “You’re Beautiful” songwriter James Blunt, and, of course, Oscar-winner Spacey himself.
The newly-minted winner is a native of upstate New York and attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, graduating with a BFA in Film/TV Production. And in addition to coming out of the contest with a prize-winning calling card (and a gig directing K-PAX II, perhaps?), Klein will also pocket a check for $50,000 (and, for his sake, we’re hoping a couple of brewskis).
According to the panel of celeb judges, The Perfect Time is “a darkly beautiful story of a man determined to complete the construction of a machine that will allow him to live in his favorite memory…forever.”
But why take their word for it? Check it out in its entirety here.
