Variety reports that Marc Cherry has signed a new deal with ABC Studios, which could keep Desperate Housewives on the air through 2013. Cherry signed a two-year deal extension that will solidify his role as executive producer of Desperate Housewives for its eighth and ninth seasons. Season six is currently airing and the show’s fate may also depend on its core cast, who are only signed on through the seventh season.
