Ratings: Led by 'NCIS,' CBS has 12 of week's top 20 shows

Posted on

The second week of the 2009-10 season has come and gone, and CBS’s surging NCIS remains on top for the week ending Oct. 4. The Navy-set procedural actually increased over its Sept. 22 season premiere by 800,000 viewers to draw 21.4 million gawkers in its second airing. Of course, the show’s spin-off, NCIS: Los Angeles, wasn’t far behind, as its second episode drew 17.4 million viewers — a drop of 1.3 million viewers compared to its premiere — to land at No. 3 behind NBC’s Sunday Night Football, which drew 18.4 million viewers.

It’s no surprise, but according to the week’s Top 20 — which you can read in full after the jump — CBS is cleaning up so far this season, claiming 12 of the Top 20 shows. Outside of the race for the top three slots, CBS shows up everywhere from No. 5 (CSI, 15.9 million viewers) to No. 20 (Survivor, 11.5 million viewers), and from new dramas like The Good Wife (No. 13, 13.7 million viewers) to returning comedies like Two and a Half Men (No. 12, 13.9 million viewers) and The Big Bang Theory (No. 15, 13.3 million viewers).

The rest of the Top 20? It’s not that different than last week’s premiere week ratings, except for the addition of ABC’s Private Practice, which surprised by debuting its first episode at No. 18 with 11.6 million viewers. (Looks like all that buzz for the crazy cut-the-baby-out-of-Violet’s-stomach storyline paid off.)
