Suspect in Letterman extortion case pleads not guilty

Robert “Joe” Halderman, who was arrested yesterday for allegedly trying to extort David Letterman, was arraigned in a Manhattan courthouse today, where he pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted grand larceny in the first degree. Judge Michael Melkonian set bail at $200,000 and issued a temporary order of protection for Letterman. Halderman’s next court date is Nov. 10.
