Responding to reports that DJ AM relapsed before his death Friday, a representative for the late celebrity disc jockey released this statement today: “As soon as his friends, representation and his AA sponsor learned that he relapsed, which was only a couple days before he passed away, they sprung into action to try and get him to agree to go to rehab.”
DJ AM, whose real name was Adam Michael Goldstein, was found dead in his New York City apartment at the age of 36. Published reports said police found a crack pipe and prescription pills there. The disc jockey had talked openly about past addictions to drugs, but had claimed he had been drug-free for years. He was hosting MTV’s drug intervention reality show Gone Too Far.
