If Tim Burton had made Mars Attacks! for a sawbuck, it might’ve looked something like this tongue-in-cheek riff on ’50s sci-fi schlock. Will & Grace‘s Eric McCormack hams it up nicely as a pipe-smoking astronomer possessed by an alien whose flying saucer crash-lands in the Mojave Desert. The cheapo F/X, theremin music, and newsreel footage all help give Alien Trespass a hip retro vibe. But even at a svelte 84 minutes, the one-joke satire feels a bit slow. The EXTRAS focus on the “long-lost” film’s phony backstory. B?
