A ”sneak preview” of Warner Bros.’ forthcoming flick based on J.K. Rowling’s first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Poster Book‘s collection of 15 images isn’t nearly as revealing as the recently released teaser trailer. The spectral portraits of Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and his friends Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) confirm director Chris Columbus has at least found actors (all relative newcomers) who look like Rowling’s descriptions — though Harry’s lightning bolt scar goes unseen here, obscured by Radcliffe’s brown matted hair. Glimpses of other characters (including Richard Harris’ Professor Dumbledore, sporting a wizardy white beard long enough to double as a dust mop) and the film’s handsome production design suggest Columbus has faithfully evoked many of ”Sorcerer”’s essential moments: a broomstick-flying lesson, a spooky nighttime excursion into the woods, the climactic sequence in the school’s catacombs. Still, as a trailer, you’re better off buying a movie ticket and seeing the real thing one more time.
