'King Kong' prequel novel headed to the big screen

Spirit Pictures has purchased film rights to Kong: King of Skull Island, an authorized 2004 prequel to the tale of King Kong, Variety reports. Spirit plans to use motion-capture technology similar to that in Robert Zemeckis films like The Polar Express and Beowulf to depict the book’s island full of prehistoric creatures.
