Former 'Late Night' director to helm primetime Leno show

Posted on

Former Late Night With Conan O’Brien director Liz Plonka has been chosen to helm NBC’s The Jay Leno Show when the former Tonight Show host makes his move to primetime, Variety reports. Plonka has previously filled in as director for Leno’s Tonight Show, and her other credits include Mind of Mencia and The Showbiz Show With David Spade. Jay Leno Show executive producer Debbie Vickers called Plonka “an accomplished director” and “a perfect fit for the new show.”

NBC confirmed that Leno’s Tonight Show bandleader, Kevin Eubanks, will serve as the primetime show’s music director, while John Melendez will leave his announcer’s post to join the writing staff.
