Showtime’s new six-episode series Live Nude Comedy will combine standup comedy and burlesque into a half-hour format, Variety reports. Shannon Elizabeth will host the Thursdays-at-midnight show, which starts this week. The idea came from a documentary in which Don Rickles recalled his earlier days of working in strip clubs. Each episode will begin with Elizabeth leading an audience-participation sketch, followed by alternating performances of two comedians and two dancers. Sam Tripoli and Ian Edwards are set to perform their standup in the premiere, with future appearances set for Andy Dick and Whitney Cummings; Dakota Ferreiro and Tonya Kay will dance in the first episode. A live tour is also in the works, starting in Atlantic City and possibly expanding to Los Angeles.
