Weiner — whose new novel Best Friends Forever goes on sale July 14 — created the perfect office amid her footwear.
Why would a best-selling novelist work in a closet? To keep her family at bay. ”You need obstacles if you write at home with little kids,” says Weiner. Some office decor: a leather pig, which resonates with her because she writes about body image; artwork by her daughter, Lucy; the two dog-shaped soaps that were pictured on the back cover of 2006’s The Guy Not Taken; a wax figure of a woman boxing. ”Some reviewers think that [all books] about dating and romance are crap,” she says. ”I like a little pugilism in the workplace.”
