Posted on

In a move that could reflect an ongoing attempt to update the Oscars, several young comedy stars were invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Superbad stars Michael Cera and Seth Rogen were granted entrance, as were Paul Rudd (I Love You Man), James Franco (Pineapple Express), and Jane Lynch (The 40-Year-Old Virgin). Other actors who will now be able to vote for the Academy Awards include Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Michelle Williams. Also invited to join: directors Tyler Perry, Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire), and David Frankel (Marley & Me); and writers John August (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and Dustin Lance Black (Milk).
