Ghostbusters

READER’S CHOICE: TV
TRUE BLOOD on HBO
True Blood is completely out of control in that wonderful way that makes you so thankful that it’s not your life, but so thrilled they made a TV show about it. —Kristen

Being a True Blood fanatic, my Must of the week was finding out Lafayette is alive, being held captive by Eric’s crew…and that both actors playing these roles have said in interviews that their chemistry in upcoming eps is ”electrifying”. OH! —Erica

Alexander Skarsgaard as Eric Northman steals every scene. Seriously, any man who can play a terrifying (and hot) vampire in flip-flops and hair-highlighting foil needs to be on a Must list. —Jennifer K.

The involvement of baby-faced Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) with the Fellowship of the Sun is turning out to be one of the new season’s most delicious story arcs. —Daniel

READER’S CHOICE: MOVIES
AWAY WE GO
Away We Go, without a doubt, tops my Must List. I’ve already seen it three times! Maya Rudolph and John Krasinski are only one piece of what’s amazing about the movie. The writing is lovely (a blend of that McSweeney’s quirk and the way the world really works), plus the soundtrack has renewed my love of Alexi Murdoch. And the character Beckett, a child in one small scene, may be my favorite of all. He had the funniest line in the film, and his delivery is what gave it its punch. —Elizabeth W.

READER’S CHOICE: VIDEOGAMES
GHOSTBUSTERS: THE VIDEOGAME
My new obsession is Ghostbusters: The Video Game — the TRUE Ghostbusters 3 movie, but in playable form. It’s great to have the entire cast back for one more grand mission. —Vince

I can’t wait to get my hands on the Ghostbusters game. I’m a huge Akroyd fan starting with THAT film! —Zachary

Ever wanted to catch a ghost with a proton pack? Now you can. —Kevin

READER’S CHOICE: MUSIC
”GOOD GIRLS GO BAD,” Cobra Starship featuring Leighton Meester
This single is addictive and catchy, and sure to be one of this summer?s anthems. Who knew Leighton was such a great singer? —Brandon

It gets stuck in your head and just refuses to go away. It’s fun dance-y pop rock. Meester shows some potential for when she releases her own album! —Devin

READER’S CHOICE: DVD
WALTZ WITH BASHIR on DVD
If you missed Waltz With Bashir when it played briefly in theaters last year, believe me on this, it was one of the very best films and totally should have won an Oscar for Best Foreign Film. It’s on my DVD wish list because I can’t wait to rewatch it. The imagery that conveys the story (about what went down in Lebanon in the ’80s) is amazing. —Sherma Lynne

READER’S CHOICE: TV
ANTHONY STEWART HEAD on Merlin
Anthony Stewart Head (Giles from Buffy) plays a fantastically ruthless King Uther on NBC’s Merlin. That alone is enough to recommend the show, which is fun, clever, and well-acted. I won’t lie, they take massive liberties with the Arthurian legend. But it’s so fun, you don’t actually care! —LFC

READER’S CHOICE: BOOKS
THE STRAIN, by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan
I am halfway through Guillermo del Toro’s new horror novel, and already I can’t wait for the followups. —Zachary

READER’S CHOICE: TV
REALITY SHOW HOSTS: NIECY NASH (Clean House) and CAT DEELEY (SYTYCD)
Clean House was new to me a few months ago and now I never miss it because I’ve come to truly appreciate the host. With that signature flower in her hair, Niecy Nash is so full of attitude but she always works with these messy homeowners with so much heart….it’s clear she really helps them. Can’t wait to see her find the ”winner” in their search for messiest house in America! —Sean

Cat Deeley on So You Think You Can Dance? is a delight to watch and makes Ryan Seacrest look terrible by comparison. —Ernio

READER’S CHOICE: DVD
”MICHAEL BUBLE MEETS MADISON SQUARE GARDEN” on DVD
The Michael Buble DVD of his concert at Madison Square Garden is really good. What a band he sings with! He’s funnier than you think, in the backstage footage. The music store was streaming it and I watched so long I was late for an appointment. I ended up buying it for my dad for Father’s Day but I really want to watch it myself! —CB

This concert is very entertaining! That Buble guy is damn funny, and wow, can he sing! —Cam

Singing is just the first of Michael Buble’s attributes. He’s the world’s best entertainer. Once you’ve seen him, you can’t get enough. And as you can tell in the DVD, he loves his fans. —Jackie

READER’S CHOICE: MOVIES
OLIVER PLATT in Year One
As much as I always like Michael Cera and Jack Black, and it’s great to see them together, Oliver Platt in the comedy Year One is the #1 reason to see the movie. I was inside a special sneak preview screening in my town last night. Talk about perfect casting. —Zachary

MAN MAN on tour
One of the best live bands and most unique shows you’ll ever witness. Well worth exploring. —J.C.E.

READER’S CHOICE: MUSIC
”HOLD BACK MY HEART,” Michael Johns
The new Michael Johns album is here! My prayers are answered. Why he didn’t win American Idol is a travesty. I’m still mad about that. He’s truly delicious to listen to and look at. —Mississippi Marie

READER’S CHOICE: TV
CAKE BOSS on TLC
It’s compelling to watch Buddy — a tough, Italian baker from Hoboken — create the most beautiful, lavish, charming works of edible art you’ll ever see. —Niki

Seriously, Buddy is Tony Soprano meets Betty Crocker. —Audrey

READER’S CHOICE: MUSIC
”BITTE ORCA,” the Dirty Projectors
The new Dirty Projectors album is haunting, bouncy, and catchy. I don’t think I’ve ever applied those three adjectives to one thing before. —Aaron

READER’S CHOICE: MUSIC
”LITTLE STEVEN’S UNDERGROUND GARAGE” on SIRIUS/XM
This is simply the greatest rock and roll radio station in the universe. —Justin
