A STAND-UP GUY
Galifianakis, 39 — who plays the deranged brother of the bride in The Hangover — has a cult following thanks to comedy tours with Will Ferrell and Patton Oswalt. And after years of bit parts, he hosts Between Two Ferns, a FunnyOrDie Web series in which he faux-interviews celebs. His dream guest? ”I think the Pope would be good.”
You might not have seen the comedian’s 2001 snowboarding comedy, Out Cold, but Sean Penn did — 15 times. He later cast Galifianakis in a small role in 2007’s Into the Wild.
”I haven’t shaved it in about three years. If I shave, I look like a fat Jodie Foster.”
Five years ago, Galifianakis bought a farm in North Carolina, where he grows blueberries, apples, and pumpkins. (It’s the setting for Kanye West’s ”Can’t Tell Me Nothing” video, which stars Galifianakis.) The big plus of rural living? ”Grapevines don’t heckle you.”
He stars in this July’s family film G-FORCE and plays a comic-book illustrator in HBO’s fall comedy Bored to Death. Galifianakis has lofty long-term goals, too: ”If I don’t have a statue of me somewhere, then what’s the point?”
