Summit Entertainment is circling edgy filmmaker David Slade (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night) to direct the third Twilight movie, Eclipse, reports Deadline Hollywood Daily. Summit has no comment, but sources tell EW that Slade is indeed in talks for the job, although no deal is in place.
Candidates including Juan Antonio Bayona and Drew Barrymore have also been mentioned for the Eclipse gig, which Chris Weitz, director of the series’ second film, New Moon, will not be taking on. Eclipse is due to be released in June 2010. Production is already underway on New Moon; development of the fourth Twilight book, Breaking Dawn, hasn’t progressed as far as some have assumed.
