Malin Akerman, currently starring in The Watchmen, is teaming up with Ryan Phillippe to star in an indiedrama called The Bang Bang Club, according to Variety. Based on a memoir by Greg Marinovich and Joao Silvahe, the film is set in Apartheid-era South Africa and will be directed by South African documentarian Steven Silver. Akerman, who recently appeared in The Heartbreak Kid and 27 Dresses, will play a photo editor of the Bang Bang Club, a group of war photographers covering the violence of Apartheid. Phillippe plays one of the photographers. Filming is scheduled to begin next month in and around Johannesburg.
