Chrisbrown_lChris Brown was charged today by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office with felony counts of assault and making criminal threats in connection with aFebruary incident in which his girlfriend allegedly was physically attacked. He has been free on $50,000 bail since his arrest on Feb. 8 by Los Angeles police.

Meanwhile, EW has obtained an LAPD detective’s sworn affidavit that includes details from the alleged fight between Chris Brown and Rihanna, who is referred to throughout as “Robyn F.” (The singer’s full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty.) The affidavit says their dispute began in a car Brown was driving when Rihanna became upset about a three-page text message on Brown’s phone, sent by another woman. Brown allegedly pulled over and tried to force Rihanna from the car, then “shoved her head against the passenger window of the vehicle,” and went on to punch her repeatedly as he resumed driving. The affidavit says that Rihanna then tried to call her personal assistant on her cell phone, pretending to leave a message saying, “I’m on my way home. Make sure the cops are there when I get there,” at which point Brown allegedly told Rihanna, “You just did the stupidest thing ever. Now I’m really going to kill you.”  The affidavit goes on to graphically describe how Brown allegedly bit Rihanna’s ear and fingers, continued to deliver a “barrage of punches” on her arm, legs, and face, and put her in a headlock, causing her to nearly lose consciousness. UPDATE: Brown’s arraignment, originally expected to occur this afternoon, has been postponed until April 6, the Los Angeles Times reports. Meanwhile, Rihanna’s attorney has said that she will testify if she’s called as a witness. According to the Associated Press, the lawyer, Donald Etra, also said that Rihanna did not want Brown to be issued with a “no contact” order, butthat she would record any violations of an order that prohibits her boyfriend from from threatening, harassing, or harming her.
