Ratings: 'American Idol' takes over Thursday

Posted on

Thursday night regulars met the unhappy fate of facing American Idol‘s special Thursday results show — even this ratings behemoth has to move out of the way when President Obama addresses the nation on a Tuesday. Fox, of course, won the 8 p.m. hour and the night thanks to Idol‘s 20.7 million viewers, though that’s down 26 percent from a special Thursday showing the same week last year. But CSI (17.8 million) and Eleventh Hour (11.7 million) took back CBS’ rightful crown for the evening after 9 p.m. NBC’s ER (8.7 million) was up 18 percent over last week, thanks, no doubt, to competing medical show Private Practice running a repeat.
