When an e-mail sprang up in my inbox yesterday informing me that Diane Keaton would officially release her memoir, my first reaction was, Wait, Diane Keaton hasn’t already written a memoir? That being said, because I enjoy my fair share of celeb-driven personal histories — hello sTori Telling! — I’m looking forward to reading Keaton’s narrative, which will apparently chronicle her mother’s struggle with Alzheimer’s. (Though I wouldn’t mind reading about tie-vest combos, as well as some Woody Allen dirt while we’re at it. Too much to ask?)
But while news of Keaton’s memoir is nice and all, we can’t help but be relatively insatiable here at EW. After all, we’re still waiting to get our hands on juicy reads from other Hollywood icons. Where is Jack Nicholson’s memoir? Or Meryl Streep’s, for that matter? And we’d pay a pretty penny for memoirs written by plenty of other celebs, too. A quick intra-office poll turned up the following names: Oprah, Elton John, David Letterman, Johnny Depp, Robert Downey Jr., Bobbie Kristina Brown, Chelsea Clinton, Katie Holmes, Suri Cruise and — of course — Madonna.
Your turn: Whose celebrity memoir are you dying to read? And while we’re on the subject, what is your favorite celebrity memoir of all time? (Some of EW’s choices: Motley Crue’s The Dirt, Michael J. Fox’s Lucky Man, Katharine Hepburn’s Me, and Bob Dylan’s Chronicles.)
