Pilot season: Cybill Shepherd on Lifetime? Yes!

Airplanepilot_l Here are the latest orders and TAGs (Totally Arbitrary Grades).

Alligator Point: This Lifetime comedy stars Cybill Shepherd as the owner of Mae’s Oyster Bar, a Southern-fried hangout where a group of eccentric Floridians are forced to befriend a Yankee. The pilot will be directed by Kelsey Grammer, and Teen Witch‘s Robyn Lively and Sordid Lives: The Series‘ Leslie Jordan are among Shepherd’s costars. I know it sounds kooky, but it gets even better/worse: According to The Hollywood Reporter, the concept was originally developed as a pilot for NBC seven years ago — and starred Nathan Fillion and Jaime Pressly. I fully support this kind of crazy (on Lifetime, anyway), and anything that theoretically lets Shepherd use her Tennessee accent. TAG: B

100 Questions for Charlotte Payne: NBC has given a cast-contingent pickup to what THR describes as “an ensemble comedy about ayoung woman navigating life and the world of dating with friends inNew York.” The title is intriguing. The generic logline? Not so much. TAG: C+
