We gave it a B-

While Seth Rogen may not have been baked when he co-wrote and starred in Pineapple Express, a hydroponic blend of Cheech & Chong and Riggs & Murtaugh, it certainly feels like it. After all, it goes on forever. So a two-disc extended cut winds up feeling more like a punishment than a treat. Rogen really stretches to play a stoned screwup who witnesses a drug-war murder and goes on the run with his dim and clingy pot dealer (James Franco). Action-packed reefer madness ensues. Folks who’ve seen Rogen’s previous flicks won’t find much new here. In fact, the only surprise is a nice turn from Danny McBride as an unkillable third wheel. Well, that and the fact there was anything left on the cutting-room floor to provide the EXTRAS: a ho-hum gag reel, a few rightly deleted scenes, and a commentary. B-
