'Project Runway': Tim Gunn teases season 6

Posted on

Even though Project Runway has yet to set a finalized premiere date for its sixth season, Tim Gunn tells EW.com that February’s final runway

show at New York Fashion Week will be completely spoiler-free. Rather than trotting out at least a dozen decoys at the event, Gunn says Lifetime has a trick up its sleeve. “We’re not going to show decoys,” he says. “It was Lifetime’s concept how to do this, and I said to them, ‘I couldn’t have thought of this if I was given 50 years to think about it.’ It’s a brilliant solution. It’s really great.” Does he have any hints about what the ploy could be? “I can’t,” he demurs. “But it’s really brilliant.” (Our prediction? Runway will show three anonymous collections, sans the designer introductions.)

Of course, that’s only if the series even makes it back on air. Gunn admits that he and Heidi Klum are worried Runway will get shelved by the courts, especially because, “it’s such a great season,” regardless of the controversial relocation to Los Angeles. “I was really dubious about what it would be like, that it would be not as intense and as substantial a season,” he says. “[But] it was phenomenal.”
