Zac Efron, High School Musical 3: Senior Year
Fred Hayes

TV
1. FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
The high school drama has a new principal (Connie Britton’s Tami Taylor) and new home (DIRECTV — at least until FNL hits NBC in February), which means we’re going satellite to get our Panthers fix.

MOVIES
2. JOSH BROLIN in ‘W.’
Brolin doesn’t do an impression of Bush fils. He makes one with a studied performance that’s the best part of Oliver Stone’s biopic.

TV
3. THE WIVES on ‘The Shield’
Cathy Cahlin Ryan and Michele Hicks give the show’s final season an affecting sense of gravitas as strong but agonized wives paying for their cop husbands’ transgressions.

DIGITAL
4. ”HUMAN” video, the Killers
”I’m on my knees, looking for the answer,” pleads lead singer Brandon Flowers, but it looks like the band may have found it with their sweeping desert-set video.

TV
5. MIKE O’MALLEY on ‘My Own Worst Enemy’
The comic’s torqued casting as a spy proves the fun is seeing what else people can do.

MOVIES
6. ROBERT DE NIRO in ‘What Just Happened’
His hotshot Hollywood producer is losing control, but as an actor De Niro is firmly in the driver’s seat.

STAGE
7. BLACK WATCH in Brooklyn
Gregory Burke interviewed the historic Scottish regiment for his internationally acclaimed play. Now U.S. audiences can see the fog of war through other soldiers’ eyes.

MOVIES
8. QUARANTINE
Six million Blair Witch knockoffs later, you’d think the handheld-camera fright flick was over. But director John Erick Dowdle reenergizes the form in this remake of a Spanish horror film.

DIGITAL
9. ZOMBIE HARMONY dating site
Looking to grab a bite? Sort potential dates by number of limbs, rottenness level, and chase speed.

10. MICHAEL IMPERIOLI’S MUSTACHE on ‘Life on Mars’
Thick, manly, and the epitome of ’70s cool, Imperioli’s vintage pucker rug should kick off a whole new ‘stache dash. —Submitted by Cathy Wilde

READER’S CHOICE*: MOVIES
11. ZAC EFRON
I’m loving that Zac Efron is getting so much attention right now. I may hate the High School Musical franchise, but I definitely don’t mind all the attention he’s getting, because he is just so much fun to look at!! —raven

READER’S CHOICE*: DIGITAL
12. ”SINGLE LADIES (PUT A RING ON IT)” video, Beyoncé
I’m 100 percent on Team Slezak with this one; B. dances circles (literally) around her competition in this bare-bones video. Few others could flail about in a stark white room wearing nothing but stilettos, a Flashdance-esque leotard, and a Terminator arm piece and totally pull it off. Girlfriend OWNS IT. —Dennis N.

READER’S CHOICE*: TV
13. ”CHUCK,” on NBC
Wait a second, when did this show get hilarious? Is there a word for a reverse sophomore slump? —Cara

Totally with Cara, Chuck is ROCKING it this season, and how sad is it that no one is watching it? WHERE DID YOU GO, VIEWERS? Come back! —elena

READER’S CHOICE*: VIDEOGAMES
14. ”DEAD SPACE,” from EA
It’s Resident Evil x 10 in this game of supremely scary sci-fi survival horror. —Mike

READER’S CHOICE*: DIGITAL
15. ”TWILIGHT” trailer
Not sure if this goes under movies, online, or what, but I have to include the new full-length trailer for Twilight. After watching this trailer, I know that Summit Entertainment and Catherine Hardwicke definitely have a hit on their hands. The trailer offered a great balance of the story line, and it appeals to both men and women — romance and a kick-ass fight scene (which I am both excited about!). —maggie

Twilight trailer. AMAZING. Especially when you watch it in gorgeous full-screen HD in the dark. Try it. [Fangirl squeal] —Charlee
