PopWatch Previewer: Halloween edition

Posted on

The Uninvited
Jan. 30

Plot: Two sisters (Arielle Kebbel and Emily Browning) suspect that their new stepmother (Elizabeth Banks) may be a murderer.

Looks like: Stepfather meets What Lies Beneath

Verdict: 40 Year Old Virgin star Banks is always good for a laugh. But that’s not necessarily a good thing in a horror movie…

The Unborn
Jan. 9

Plot: A hottie (Odette Yustman) is haunted by the ghost of her unborn twin.

Looks like: Parent Trap: The Exorcism

Verdict: We’ve got no beef with old-school horror, but this trailer’s like an encyclopedia of scary movie clichés: creepy demon kids, crabwalking ghosts, scantily clad coeds, etc.

More Halloween trailers after the jump!

Trick r Treat
TBD

Plot: Pumpkins, knives, screams, costumes: who needs a plot on Halloween?

Looks like: Is Anna Paquin’s Career Afraid of the Dark?

Verdict: With a four-pack of campy horror stories, this thriller could provide the perfect use for leftover Halloween candy — throwing it at the screen.

The Other End of the Line
Oct. 31

Plot: An Indian customer service rep (Shriya Saran) falls in love with an American bachelor (Jesse Metcalf) over the phone.

Looks like: Sleepless in Mumbai

Verdict: Not technically a horror movie, but come on. Flying halfway around the world just to meet Jesse Metcalf? That’s just frightening.
