Apparently, many twentysomethings don't know KLF's '3 A.M. Eternal'

Posted on

I recently discovered that a colleague of mine (who shall remain nameless, but who earlier today embedded on PopWatch a video of her telephone conversation with the hotness that is Maksim Chmerkovskiy) had never heard the KLF’s “3 a.m. Eternal.” This made me sad as hell, because it means there are generations of adults in this country who don’t vividly remember a time when a top 10 hit could contain lyrics as nonsensical magical as “Down with the crew, crew/ Talkin’ about the Mu Mu/ Justified Ancient Liberation Zulu!”

For the uninitiated, it’s time to press play below. For those of you know know the drill, all together now: “KLF! UH-HUH. UH-HUH, UH-HUH.”

FYI, I didn’t feel the need to discuss “Justified and Ancient,” KLF’s smash-hit collaboration with Tammy Wynette, because I know it’s universally recognized and revered. I am only embedding it after the jump for your enjoyment, not because any of you out there are unfamiliar with it.
