Don't give up on Bernie Mac's TV comeback just yet

Posted on

The new stars of fall TV may be overwhelmingly Caucasian (the notable exception being the Fox comedy Do Not Disturb, which features black actress Niecy Nash as a co-lead with Jerry O’Connell), but we may still see new shows with minority leads before next spring. EW.com hears that Warner Bros. TV is looking to retool its failed sitcom pilot for Fox that starred Bernie Mac as a divorcee, while CBS has made a new commitment to find a show for rapper-actor LL Cool J. In fact, CBS’ diversity department has been especially busy of late: since announcing its fall lineup to advertisers in May, CBS has made African-American actor Rocky Carroll a series regular on NCIS (he’ll play the new director), and added Japanese-American actor Aya Sumika to the cast of Numb3rs. She’ll play an FBI agent.
