In the wake of the departures of co-stars Gary Dourdan and Jorja Fox, Lauren Lee Smith (The L Word) has joined the cast of CSI as a series regular. She’ll play Bryce Adams, a character that CBS describes as a flirty and smart CSI who entered law enforcement to rebel against a controlling father. She’ll join Gil Grissom’s night-shift team next season. An insider close to the show also says other new cast members may be added in the near future.
Dourdan appeared in his final episode on May 15 (the season finale) as CSI Warrick Brown. It was mutually decided last month that he leave the drama, which he has appeared on since its inception in 2000. Fox decided earlier this season to walk away from her role as Sara Sidle, though she left open the possibility of returning for guest appearances.
