Johnny Depp: Film's top money-maker in '07

Posted on

(FROM HOLLYWOOD REPORTER) ? Johnny Depp, who starred in last year’s third installment of Pirates of the Carribean, generated the most money for movie theaters in 2007, according to the annual survey of movie exhibitors by Quigley Publishing Co. It is the second year in a row Depp topped the survey. Will Smith, star of I Am Legend, came in second, followed by George Clooney (Michael Clayton), Matt Damon (The Bourne Ultimatum), Denzel Washington (American Gangsgter), Russell Crowe (Gangster, 3:10 to Yuma), Tom Cruise (Lions for Lambs), Nicolas Cage (National Treasure: Book of Secrets), Will Ferrell (Blades of Glory), and Tom Hanks (Charlie Wilson’s War). This was the first time in 24 years a woman did not make the survey, despite the success of Katherine Heigl (Knocked Up) and Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End).
