Next month’s Slamdance Film Festival will kick off with the world premiere of Real Time, written and directed by Randall Cole and starring Randy Quaid and Jay Baruchel. It is a comedic drama about a compulsive gambler who is given one hour to live by a hitman. Some 1,200 films were submitted, and the 29 feature selections were announced on Wednesday (Dec. 5). The 14th Annual Slamdance Fest runs Jan. 17-25, concurrent with Sundance. All feature film submissions must be from first-time directors and have budgets under $1 million to be eligible for consideration. For a complete list of selections, visit the Slamdance website.
