DGA ready to talk?

Word on the street — the one filled with striking writers at the moment — is that the Directors Guild of America is looking to begin contract negotiations with the studios around Thanksgiving, about seven months before the directors’ contracts are set to expire next June. While neither the Guild nor the AMPTP would comment on such a development, two sources tell Hollywood Insider that talks with the directors should indeed start heating up by the end of the month. Says one studio source, “The DGA is a less emotional guild. They want to extend their contract. It feels like we can make a deal with them.” Maybe, but considering so many of the writers on strike are also directors…
