We gave it a B+
Back when he was leader of Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Fogerty was arguably the most fecund and gifted American rocker of his day, chalking up hit after enduring hit. His sporadic solo efforts haven’t been too shabby either. Revival, Fogerty’s seventh studio album shows that his soul-scarred voice and knack for killer licks remain as potent as ever. Whether he’s flashing back to groovier times (”Summer of Love”) or having a politically motivated temper tantrum (”I Can’t Take It No More”), his vaunted chooglin’ power still seems like a force of nature.
