CONCEPT A computer nerd (Less Than Perfect‘s Zachary Levi) gets sucked into spydom when all of America’s secret intelligence is downloaded into his brain. Whoops.

THE SCOOP Chuck may come from The O.C. creator Josh Schwartz, but don’t look for Seth Cohen, the office years. Chuck‘s premise hews closer to another quirky new show on The CW, Reaper: A twentysomething drone finds his life unexpectedly wild. ”At the core, what they’re about is so different,” declaims Schwartz. ”But I’m rooting for that show.” In fact, Reaper star Bret Harrison initially auditioned for Chuck — but it was Levi who will ultimately clip on the tie. Seeing as Chuck is an aspiring assistant manager, Levi might want to research kissing up to the boss: ”I never saw one episode of The O.C.,” he admits. ”The only TV I watch is Lost and Heroes. Plus I have a very steady videogame diet.”

BOTTOM LINE Levi’s a charmer, and Chuck is an odd, likable mix — Alias meets 40 Year-Old Virgin 15 Years Earlier.
