A wealthy Scandinavian family gather in a country home for a young woman’s nuptials. A handsome stranger wanders into the celebration and fixes his gaze on the bride’s mother. Her eyes widen in shock and recognition. At that moment, Danish director Susanne Bier’s Oscar-nominated After the Wedding seems poised to expose the dark secrets beneath a family’s genteel surface.
