History repeats itself, said Marx, first as tragedy, then as farce. So it is with Black Sabbath’s grim 1970 metal masterpiece “Paranoid,” covered almost immediately by campy, mod Germans, who rewrote the lyrics to reference Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s “The Hound of the Baskervilles,” in this otherwordly TV clip.
