We gave it an A
A cop-turned-taxi driver in a poor Pennsylvania mining town, Shae-Lynn Penrose has a sharp tongue, a strong fist, and a tirelessly forgiving soul. All serve her well in Sister Mine, particularly when she’s threatened by a villainous mine owner and her long-missing sister turns up pregnant and pursued by punks. The ensuing chaos could seem over-the-top, but Tawni O’Dell keeps a steady grip on both her plot and the flawed but funny Shae-Lynn, who is quick to roll her eyes at the madness. O’Dell hits her stride here; one hopes this is not the last we’ll hear from her punch-packing, pink-Stetson-wearing heroine.
