Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro has been tapped to direct a new big screen incarnation of Tarzan for Warner Bros. “I’d love to create a new version that is still a family movie, but as edgy as I can make it,” del Toro told Variety. “There are strong themes of survival of a defenseless child left behind in the most hostile environment.” (Sounds like familiar turf for the Pan’s Labyrinth director.)
Little is known about the edgy-yet-family-oriented script that’s to be written by John Collee (who co-scripted both Master and Commander: Far Side of the World and Happy Feet). But that shouldn’t stop us PopWatchers from suggesting the proper casting. I’d like see Step Up‘s Channing Tatum put his hard body and soft eyes to use. You?
