Elvis’ historic mid-’50s appearances on Ed Sullivan stand, after half a century, as important and hugely enjoyable rock & roll artifacts, and they are compiled, for your convenience, in Elvis: The Ed Sullivan Shows. In particular, it is hilarious to note the generational chasm between the scream-inducing Presley and the staid, Nixonian Sullivan, whose personal taste ran more toward the choirs, ventriloquists, and novelty dog acts that compose, rather drearily, the rest of the bills included on this three-disc set.

EXTRAS
Other Elvis-related Sullivan footage and ”Memphis Mafia” member Jerry Schilling’s home movies of the King.
