PopWatchers, here’s your chance to put on your entertainment-
journalist fedora and interview a celebrated movie director. Guillermo del Toro, the visionary filmmaker behind Hellboy, Blade II, The Devil’s Backbone, and other strange and wondrous horror/
fantasy/sci-fi hybrids, has agreed to answer your questions over the next few weeks, in anticipation of the Dec. 29 opening of his newest dark fantasy epic, Pan’s Labyrinth.
So fire away. Ask him about his nightmares, or his penchant for casting Ron Perlman, or his planned Hellboy sequel, or the new wave of dynamic Mexican filmmakers that’s spearheaded by del Toro and his pals Alfonso Cuarón (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Y tu mamá también) and Alejandro González Iñárritu (21 Grams, Babel). Ask del Toro (pictured, right, with Blade II‘s Wesley Snipes) anything you like; submit your questions to firstname.lastname@example.org (be sure to write “Ask del Toro” in the subject line and include your first and last names in your e-mail), and then visit EW.com for his responses over the coming weeks.
We’re hoping this will be the first installment of a regular PopWatch feature, along the lines of EW.com’s Ask the Critic. So help us with this experiment, and if it works, we’ll be offering you a chance to query other filmmakers and stars in the months ahead.
